[Updated/Fixed] Enlightenment Foundation Libraries(EFL) For PSL1GHT

PS3 Developer deroad has had some spare time recently, so decided to fix Enlightenment Foundation Libraries, that were originally ported to PSL1GHT by PS3 Dev KaKaRoTo, here is a quote from deroads blog:

Well since i had 2 days free, i decided to use them to fix the EFL libs for PSL1GHT ported by KaKaRoTo.

this is my repository: https://github.com/wargio/EFL-PS3 (~138 Mb insted of 800+ Mb of the original one)

to compile this libs you need some dependencies:

autopoint libglib2.0-dev libltdl-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev liblua5.1-0-dev libfontconfig1-dev libx11-dev libdbus-1-dev libbz2-dev libid3tag0-dev libpng12-dev libtiff4-dev libungif4-dev libjpeg62-dev libfreetype6-dev libpam0g-dev libxcursor-dev libxml2-dev libssl-dev autoconf pkg-config libpng3-dev libxkbfile-dev libsqlite3-dev libimlib2-dev libtagc0-dev libtag1-dev libxmu-dev libxdamage-dev libxcomposite-dev libasound2-dev cmake

then launch

./download_essential.sh

once done, you can launch ./download_ps3efl.sh and after that ./build_ps3efl.sh

you should be able to install the EFL.

You don’t need to use easy_e17.sh to compile it. download_essential.sh will resolve the dependencies for you!

for any troubles/problem/broken links, write here or on the git, and i’ll try to fix it

PSX Games Running on PS Vita Exploit Hack Demo

Today PlayStation Vita homebrew developer wololo reports that PSX games are now running PS Vita through an exploit hack as demonstrated in the video below.

To quote: A few weeks ago, an anonymous hacker released a dump of the flash0 from the PSP emulator running on the PS Vita. Although it brought nothing new for the end user, it was a verifiable proof that this hacker has access to a kernel exploit running on the PSP emulator.

This week, the same dev apparently got PS1 games to run on the Vita, as shown in the video below (thanks to the Z)

For those who wonder, I have no reason to doubt the authenticity of the video, I wouldn’t see any good reason for a guy who has proven he has a kernel PSP exploit to then produce a fake.

It is important to clarify that our forum member the Z is in contact with this anonymous developer, but they are (AFAIK) not the same person. I tried to contact the developer through the Z, but sadly, he rejected my offer for an interview, as I am craving for details. The offer still stands, if he reads me

The developer says he will release his files if he manages to get sound to work on his hack. Without much details, I can only assume he has been porting popsloader to the PSP emulator of the vita. For somebody with good experience working on the PSP (especially HENs or CFW) this sounds like a doable task.

This comes at a time where Sony is struggling to get PS1 classic games support to the Vita, despite this being one of the major requests players have been sending to the company. It wouldn’t be the first time hackers handle things better than Sony on one of their consoles (to be honest hackers usually don’t have to deal with contractual constraints though).

But don’t jump of joy yet. Although the anonymous dev said he would release his files, they will be useless without the associated Kernel exploit. When contacted through the Z, the dev confirmed he would not release the exploit itself, as he, like many other hackers who have access to those exploits, knows there are not enough of them.

Until then, the only way to run unsigned content on your Vita is still VHBL.

Finally, from The Z roughly translated:

The PlayStation Vita had to launch their very possibility Vita PS and PSP games (from the PSN) play, but went the Playstation 1 classic yet.

Later still came to support for PSP/PS3 MiniS, so that almost everything could be played, which was then on the PlayStation Portable was, however, remains to this day the PS1 support (officially) out.

The anonymous developer, which already by the dump of the PSP emulator Flash0s, reports we have demonstrated is that he is familiar with the matter of the PS Vita, it has now made it even that PlayStation can a classic be reproduced, which he thus the Sony PS Vita official firmware is a step advance!

Currently, the PS1 classics still have no sound, but they can be played smoothly and free-fall, so that one can enjoy the PS1 games coming soon in full scale will be possible, provided one has access to a savegame exploit.

His complete works would not release the developer (yet), but he is once he has resolved any problems with the POPS, publish the relevant code so that other developers that code on their PSP emulator kernel mode can customize exploit.

Another time the scene of the world, and Sony has shown what is possible with a little effort and expense. The fact that a single developer to play PS1 games, especially under difficult conditions, can perform shows once again that Sony had long since the PS1 can add support, it has still not done.

PS3 SPU Emulation Alpha 2 Module, Allows x86 PCs to Emulate SPU Source : Five Star Gamerz – PS3 SPU Emulation Alpha 2 Module, Allows x86 PCs to Emulate SPU

Today KDSBest has updated their PS3 / PC SPU emulation project to Alpha 2 which allows your x86 machine to emulate the PlayStation 3 SPU.

Download: PS3 SPU Emulation Alpha 2 Module

To quote: SPU Emulation Alpha2 has been released: mBox implemented and MFC prepared, bugfixes, breakpoints implemented and all commands for metldr as far as KDSBest knows.

Hi Community,

I wanted to contribute to the scene, so I coded a tool that might help the community our members and fellow dev’s. This Tool is intended for dev’s so please be careful if you don’t know what you do. I will not be held responsible for any harm.

My tool is a emulator for PS3 modules (e.g metldr), it is in pre alpha stage but I thought, it would be great to get some community feedback.

How to use:

Not all SPU Commands are implemented yet, but it is easily extendable and I will make it support DMA, all SPU Commands and SPU Mailbox soon.

First open a .kds file. Check out the metldr.kds to see an example. The rest is like a normal debugger. If you put dumps of your reversed functions in the KnownFunctions folder, it will detect it and mark that function for you.

Just for example Mark the whole cellSpuAesDecryptCbcCfb128 function in HexView in IDA -> Right Click -> Save to File
Name the File “cellSpuAesDecryptCbcCfb128″ without extension and copy it to the KnownFunctions Directory of the Emulator. Now all similar functions get automatic detected!

“Step” Executes next command, “Run” runs till breakpoint (Breakpoints are not implemented yet).
Debug SPU Code in Windows.

Any questions?

Just get back to me at twitter

Stay tuned

PS: Thx for MK and cfwprophet (Team acid) and of course to fail0verflow for anergistic, which helps a lot with it and even uses some functions of them.

‘Call of Duty’ could become a national sport

Black Ops 2 offers “disruptive innovation”, promises Activision

Black Ops 2 brings “disruptive innovation” to the Call of Duty series, Activision has promised.

It’s followed up last night’s official reveal with some chest-beating bluster from publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg, who has thrown down a series of bold promises for this year’s entry in the steamrolling FPS franchise.

“Hands down, this is the most ambitious Call of Duty ever,” he insisted.

“We are bringing disruptive innovation to the franchise and we are doing it on several fronts. We’re pushing the boundaries technologically, graphically, and from a narrative and gameplay perspective.

“At the same time, we need to stay true to the epic realism, authenticity, heart pumping adrenaline, and cinematic action that so many people love and expect from a Call of Duty game. Treyarch’s vision for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will redefine the Call of Duty franchise for the future – both literally and figuratively.”

Mark Lamia, studio chief of developer Treyarch joined in too, insisting the game will confound expectations.

“With Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, the team is crafting an experience that Call of Duty fans have never seen before,” he said.

“We are challenging assumptions on every front, with the single player campaign, Zombies and multiplayer.

Lamia added that the single player campaign will boast “a thought-provoking story that introduces branching storylines and meaningful choices that impact the narrative”.

“Running in the multiplayer engine for the first time, Zombies gives players a bigger and more diverse set of gameplay experiences, as well as entirely new ways to wage war with the undead, he continued.

“And in multiplayer, we’re embracing all skill levels and play styles to give players more ways to engage. With Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, we’re all in and we won’t rest until we’ve launched nothing less than the best Call of Duty we’ve ever made.”

You’ll have to wait until 13th November to find if there’s substance to the pair’s shilling.

Why is Anonymous in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Materials?

The Call of Duty Black Ops 2 trailer was released last night, and the internet is buzzing with speculations. Over at Kotaku, however, Brian Ashcraft noticed something a little concerning – at several points in Call of Duty’s promotional materials, a Guy Fawkes mask appears. Each time it does, it seems to be identified with a hacker “enemy.” The main plot from the game concerns hackers taking control of unmanned weapons in a near-future scenario.

The Guy Fawkes mask was first associated with the man who tried to blow up Parliament in the early 17th century, and after with the anarchist hero V of V for Vendetta. Today, however, it has become the symbol of the loosely-bound hacker group “Anonymous.” In most media, the mask and Anonymous have become one and the same.

Call of Duty has skirted close to real-world events before, but always at a safe remove. “The Russians” in the Modern Warfare series were a fictional group of “ultra-nationalists” clearly delineated from recognizable Ruskis. The developers made up a Middle Eastern Country for MW 1, and the rest of the action was so ridiculous as to avoid comparison to reality. Black Ops 1 came with the fuzzy lens of historical fiction.

This feels like something else. I’m sure that Treyarch will actively avoid every mentioning the word “Anonymous” in Black Ops 2, but it might as well have when it flashed the Guy Fawkes mask. By identifying Anonymous as “enemy,” the developer comes dangerously close to commenting on world politics with all the tact of a rocket launcher.

Anonymous is not an enemy. It’s a gigantic “organization” with no membership requirements and little to bind it besides a name and fluency with computers. Sons of bitches, thieves and honest-to-god freedom fighters alike wear the Guy Fawkes mask. There’s the possibility that some day, combat drones might be hacked by somebody wearing a Guy Fawkes mask. But I’m not comfortable with a game like Call of Duty connecting any dots.

The Call of Duty series may have a reputation for mindless spectacle, but it’s not without nuance. The AC-130 scene from the first Modern Warfare still sticks in my mind as one of the most memorable moments of this generation. Some of the things that Activision and Treyarch are bringing up in CoD Black Ops 2 are interesting in a Terminatorish kind of way.

But step too far into associating the in-game hacker enemies with the Guy Fawkes mask, and Call of Duty strays dangerously close to clumsy commentary. Using real-world technology and broad themes of international politics is one thing, calling out specific groups is another. Using Oliver North is yet another.

Activision has yet to respond to a request for comment.

Skyrim’s Revenge of the Snow Prince DLC to be announced soon?

A Skyrim Official forum user, going by the name of “phasmatishaunt”, has discovered some startling information hidden in the next patch. The list of file names he uncovered seem to almost certainly be relevant for Skyrim’s first DLC instalment. First, it seems we could be getting a crossbow which is great news. New weapon types are always a plus, although I am not sure if they will have a new skill tree to accompany its type. Spears would have been better, complete with a spear skill tree that we can level up, receiving new perks along the way. However, as for the tone of the DLC, it seems the Falmer are going to be the prominent faction dealt with. References to ‘Snow Elves’ and a ‘Snow Prince’ leads me to believe we will be delving deeper into the past of the Falmer.

The Snow Elves, according to Skyrim’s wiki, were led by a Snow Elf known only as, ‘the Snow Prince’. He led them into a potentially suicidal campaign against the first humans in Tamriel. He was slain by a child at the battle of Moesring. The Nords then mounted a reprisal campaign and killed Snow Elves by the thousands, forcing the Snow Elves to retreat underground where they found refuge with the Dwemer, who then enslaved them!  Thus the snowy knife ears became the twisted Falmer we encounter deep underground.

Could we see some kind of ritual whereby the Falmer resurrect the snow prince and lead a surface attack against the residents of Skyrim, threatening the entire province? This is extremely likely and could be immensely enjoyable.

We could also see some kind of time travel, in which this time we are not just observers of the past, but we are able to physically aid or fight the snow elves in the past. As long as the quest was linear and always resulted in the snow elves demise its very possible, but doubtful since there are no mention in the files of any Dwemer characters that where pivotal in the birth of the twisted Falmer.

So fighting a twisted Snow Prince, bent on revenge against the inhabitants on Tamriel for the fate of his race, is most likely what we are going to see.  This means however, that we will likely see no new landmasses, but instead, a few new underground locations that the Falmer love to inhabit. This would be disappointing but Bethesda always seems to leave the best until last. Maybe it could even be like Oblivion’s Knights of the Nine, a cheap filler DLC before the amazing landmass expanding DLC we will hopefully see sometime soon.  Regardless of what it is, I’m sure many of you will buy before even reading its summary. Skyrim is awesome and finally it seems our wait for more adventuring is almost over.  And after its Kinect compatibility release next week, I’m almost certain we will be hearing more about the mighty, resurrected Snow Prince’s revenge on humanity.

Battlefield 3: Close Quarters Weapon List – Three New Weapons Revealed and a Modified .44 Magnum?

With the latest Battlefield 3: Close Quarters “Donya Fortress” gameplay trailer having been released, we’re finally able to gather all of the weapons that will be included in the DLC dropping this June.

Though similar to our last attempt at unveiling these new weapons, in which we were only able to gather the first seven out of ten, we’ve now discovered three new weapons, as well as what could possibly be a nice little surprise for those who are fond of the .44 Magnum.

Check out the revised weapon list below:

Assault Rifles:

SCAR
AUG

Carbines:

ACW-R
MTAR-2

Light Machine Guns:

L86LSW
LSAT

Sniper Rifles:

M417 [New]
JNG-90 [New]

All-Class Weapons:

SPAS-12
M5K [New]

Lastly, redditor xNeptune made a nice little discovery in the latest trailer as well. Check out what seems to be a modified .44 Magnum with an attached suppressor and laser sight:

Of course, this could simply be another DICE developer-exclusive weapon just like the M1911 S-TAC in the original game. We’ll just have to wait to find out!

Which one of these Battlefield 3: Close Quarters weapons interest you the most?

Near-future Call of Duty teased

The next Call of Duty game–believed to be Black Ops 2–may be set in the near future. The official Call of Duty website links to a humorous FPS Russia YouTube video, which focuses on the futuristic flying quadrotor RC drone weapon, teased for inclusion in an upcoming Call of Duty game.

The prototype weapon is controlled remotely, and as displayed in the video, is capable of firing upon enemies via a mounted machine gun. Operators control the device with a tablet, which grants the user a bird’s-eye view of terrain.

“Looks like the future’s going to be fun,” the presenter said. “But if you can’t wait another 15 years, my friends are telling me that this baby might just be in the next Call of Duty game, which would be the s**t.”

Several reports have suggested that the next installment in the Call of Duty series will beBlack Ops 2. The original Black Ops was set during the Cold War era and had players visiting real-world locations like the Pentagon, Arctic Circle, and Vietnam. Gamers also met up with numerous historical figures in that game like Robert McNamara, Fidel Castro, and John F. Kennedy.

A new Call of Duty game will be unveiled on May 1 during the NBA playoffs on TNT.

Infinity Ward on CoD: MW3 Content Collection 1, Double XP

Activision Social Media Manager Dan Amrich has shared details today from Infinity Ward on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) Content Collection 1 and Double XP below!

To quote: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection 1 arrives in the PlayStation Store today, and it brings with it a whole weekend of double XP.

This is the biggest DLC collection in franchise history, offering four multiplayer/Survival mode maps – Piazza, Liberation, Overwatch, and Black Box – as well as two all-new Special Ops missions, Black Ice and Negotiator.

That kind of content doesn’t just make itself, so I asked Mark Rubin, Executive Producer at Infinity Ward, for some insight into how the studio approaches making add-on content for MW3.

Dan Amrich: Everybody has different tastes in maps. When you put together a collection, are you trying to please different groups of fans with specific maps, or do you try to make every map have something for everyone in it?

Mark Rubin: Any map can come up at any time in any game mode, so we never want to make a map that leaves players thinking “this isn’t for me.”

Even when we design a map like Liberation, which snipers enjoy with its long sight-lines, we still create areas for players who enjoy, say, close-quarter combat.

The central bridge and underground bunker in Liberation are a great example of this. It’s something for everyone, but we try to really offer something of value to each subset of players.

The locales represented in Collection 1 are literally all over the map – a seaside village in Italy, a swanky neighborhood in California, and the heart of Manhattan. How do you choose where a map will be located, and does that location determine what kind of gameplay works best there?

It’s a brainstorming process. Sometimes we think about the single-player campaign and ask “What’s going on a few blocks over? What’s happening that we aren’t currently seeing?” Other times, it’s dreaming up environments that offer the most tension and danger; it’s hard to beat Overwatch for that in Collection 1 – gun battles on a skyscraper are definitely dangerous.

Other times we go for locales we’ve never seen before, or something that the art team wants to try out. I’m really proud of them on this collection; it’s worth stopping and looking around a map like Piazza to appreciate just what a good job all the art teams have been doing.

And every now and then, someone will go to a great vacation spot somewhere around the globe and think, “This is gorgeous – and it would be a great CTF arena!”

I know each map goes through a revision process. How long does it take to make a map, generally? And with constant iterations, how do you know when you’re done?

We start a level by prototyping the map geometry. Before we decide on a final theme or setting, it’s more important that we get the level layout locked down – it needs to flow correctly, it needs to offer a lot of interesting engagement points.

And that can take several months, with playtesting and polishing. As for how to know when it’s done…it just feels right. When the team agrees, from playing it, that things feel balanced, we know it’s ready.

What makes a map fun?

Player interaction and variety. When you spawn on the map, you want to run into other people – that’s the interaction. Maps with interesting choke points and clear pathways feel very satisfying to most players, because they know they’re going to get into battles in those areas.

The tight corridors of Air Force One in Black Box are a good example. Yet elsewhere in Black Box, you have completely different environments – inside fancy mansions, a few construction areas. They look and feel different from the airplane sections, and that’s where variety comes in.

Which map in Collection 1 is your favorite to play, and why?

This is like asking someone to choose between their children, and I won’t fall into that trap. I hope everybody enjoys all four of the multiplayer maps. That’s why we made them.

Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer, and Raven Software all square off in a MW3 lobby. Which studio wins?

Do you even have to ask?

Somehow I knew the answer to that last one. Content Collection 1 is available now in the PlayStation Store for $14.99, and double XP kicks in on Friday – all players, all modes. Enjoy it!

Two Massive MMORPG Games Announce Beta For April

This year is setting up to be a massive year for the MMORPG industry, we’ve already had top releases such as Star Wars: The Old Republic and there’s even more highly anticipated titles on the way, including Guild Wars 2 and TERA Online. Although both of these blockbuster titles are being worked on by separate developers, both have decided to host their first open beta weekends this month.

Starting April 20th, En Masse Entertainment will be opening the TERA Online servers for all interested players to tryout the game. It lasts for the duration of the weekend, ending on April 23rd. This is an open beta in the traditional sense, all players are able to create an account and play.

Guild Wars 2 is waiting until a little later in the month. The information was announced on the Guild Wars 2 Twitter earlier today, and it states that the open beta will begin April 27th, running through until April 29th. Sadly this is a restricted event as only players that have pre-purchased Guild Wars 2 will be able to participate.

Both of these games have been surrounded by hype since the announcement of development, however both are offering totally different styles of MMORPG game. One of the biggest factors separating these two titles is the subscription model, with GW2 opting to follow the path laid out by its predecessor, GW1, while TERA Online is adopting the more traditional pay to play approach. Which of these titles are you more exciting about? Will you be playing both?
